Pan's Labyrinth (Spanish: El laberinto del fauno; The Labyrinth of the Faun) is a Spanish-Mexican dark fantasy film released in 2006. The film was directed and written by Guillermo del Toro. The first general release of the film was on October 11, 2006 in Spain.
Pan's Labyrinth was met with near-universal acclaim from reviewers and viewers alike, with wide singled out praise towards its direction, screenplay, makeup and visual effects, musical score, cinematography, production values, visual style, story depth, and performances of the cast. The film is considered to be Del Toro's magnus opum, highly cited as one of the best movies of 2006, one of the finest feature-films of the 2000s, one of the greatest films of the 21st century and of the best fantasy movies of all time.
